Collaborating with The Asamoah Gyan Foundation in Ghana

As part of our mission to promote the well-being and advancement of all children, the Henry and Linda Foundation initiated a collaborative relationship with The Asamoah Gyan Foundation in Accra, Ghana.

Asamoah Gyan, the former captain of the Ghana National Soccer Team, the Ghana Black Stars and former international professional soccer player, has been impacting the lives of kids in Ghana through his foundation for a number of years now.

We identified the annual under-16 soccer tournament organized by Gyan’s foundation as an ideal event where participating kids’ lives can be positively impacted by designing activities aimed at preparing them for life both on and off the pitch, regardless of whether soccer becomes their profession or not.

As stated by our founder, Dr. Theophilus Sai, during the presentation, in Accra, of a USD $10,000 donation to support the event in Ghana, “…we want to support them with education, mental health, security…we want them to advance professionally in whatever career they choose…it could be sports, medicine or engineering…”

The former Sunderland striker stated, “…The tournament is something that we are doing to safeguard the future of Ghana football. As a footballer this is what I can do to support this country.” Gyan’s manager, Samuel Anim Addo, also mentioned that the tournament was scheduled for the first week of April and would be hosted at three venues namely; Accra Academy, McDan La TownPark and the Madina Astroturf Park.
